Harry Legare Watson student notebooks, 1899 [manuscript].

Two student notebooks of Harry Legare Watson, who graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1899 and went on to careers in law and journalism, chiefly in Greenwood, S.C. One notebook, entitled "Geology 2," spring 1899, contains class notes on geology, a few pages of notes for "English 4," and a short list of Watson's friends among members of the UNC class of 1901. The other notebook, entitled, "Excursions of an Evolutionist" [1899], contains notes outlining Darwinian theory and also discussing the relationship between evolution and religion.
